our attendees recharge vision; learn industry trends; explore
new ideas. I encourage you to enjoy our new training format
and challenge each of you to find just two great or new ideas
here to take back and use in your business.”
With these comments 2006 TTDA President Jeff
Voight opened the 2007 TTDA Convention. Voight
joined more than 250 tire dealers and sponsors in Texas
at the Texas Tire Dealers Association 2007 Convention
held at J.W. Marriott in Houston, Texas.
Jeff Crilley, FOX News in Dallas and Dr. Jim Leighty
were the convention keynote speakers. Jeff discussed
media relations and promotional ideas with the tire
dealers. Dr. Leighty challenged the attendees to
make sure they were “making all the right moves for
the future”. Leighty highlighted specific actions tire
dealers could make today for a more successful business
tomorrow.
Wyatt Pugh, owner of Lakeway Tire and Supply in
Jasper, Texas was installed as the 2007-2008 TTDA
President. According to Pugh, “I am excited about
leading TTDA this next year. The tire industry is
growing and we want to continue our efforts to make
sure our members have the information and resources
necessary to be successful. With all the changes in
technology and improvements in the manufacturing of
tires, we want to also make sure the traveling public has
the important facts concerning tires to assure they are
achieving maximum performance and safety.”
The Annual Awards Ceremonies honored Mike Gilmer
owner of Tire Town based in Suphur Springs, Texas as
the 2007 Texas Tire Dealer of the Year. Michelin Tire
Company was recognized as the 2007 Texas Supplier
of the Year.
Workshops and training focused on important tire
issues such as; new tire monitoring systems; PAX/Run
Flat tires and legislative issues.
