TTDA Holds Successful 2006 Convention

“The 2006 Texas Tire Dealers Convention is introducing a new convention format this year designed to help our attendees recharge vision; learn industry trends; explore new ideas; and spend more time with family and friends. I encourage you to enjoy our new format and challenge each of you to find just two great or new ideas here to take back and use in your business.”

With these comments, 2005-2006 TTDA President David Beasley opened the 2006 TTDA Convention. Beasley joined more than 250 tire dealers and sponsors in Texas at the Texas Tire Dealers Association 2006 Convention held at Austin Marriott North in Austin, Texas.

Racing legend Mario Andretti, kicked off the Convention with a Keynote Address highlighting his career as a race driver and expressing the importance of being passionate about your dreams. A picture and autograph session followed Andretti's presentation.

Jeff Voigt, owner of Bastrop Tire and Automotive in Bastrop, Texas was installed as the 2006-2007 TTDA President. According to Voigt, “We are excited about the potential growth of the Texas Tire Dealers Association and especially the future potential of the TTDA Convention. As a member-driven organization, we focus on what we can do for the benefit and success of our membership. This convention is just one example of the many great programs we offer our members and the tire industry. I look forward to building on the foundation TTDA has established.”

The Annual Awards Ceremonies honored Pueblo Tire and Service based in McAllen, Texas as the 2006 Texas Tire Dealer of the Year. Bridgestone/Firestone was recognized as the 2006 Texas Supplier of the Year.

Jerry White, White Tire in Beaumont and Bonnie Moreland, Golden Star Tire in Texarkana, Texas received the 2006 TTDA Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Workshops focused on important tire issues such as; new tire monitoring systems; expanding tire size categories; distracted driving and legislative issues.
